SAT tutoring decisions

SAT tutoring is a real cost, and the official practice is free: College Board's Bluebook practice tests and Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy cost nothing. So the useful questions are whether a tutor adds structure your student won't get alone, and whether a quote is fair per hour. The cost calculator handles the second, and Is SAT Tutoring Worth It? handles the first.

Questions people ask

Is SAT tutoring worth it?

It's worth it when the student needs structure and someone to answer to, not just more practice material, because the official practice is free. Our guide Is SAT Tutoring Worth It? has a five-point checklist to decide.

How much does SAT tutoring cost?

Quotes vary too much for an honest single average. Put the quotes you actually have into the SAT tutoring cost calculator to compare the total, cost per hour and cost per week.

Are the scores on this site official?

No. Every result is an estimate or a decision aid built from published College Board, ACT and National Merit tables. Your official SAT score only comes from College Board.

Where does the data come from?

From the official sources: College Board's percentile tables and practice-test scoring guides, the 2018 ACT/College Board concordance, and published National Merit cutoffs. Each tool names its source and year next to the result, and the About page explains how the tables are checked.

TutoringForSat.com was built by Cedrick Reese to answer the questions that come right after an SAT or PSAT score report. The quick checker on this page uses College Board's SAT user percentile table, compared row by row with the source on October 7, 2026, and College Board's class of 2026 average. Every tool linked here names its own source and year beside its result, and the tables are refreshed when College Board, ACT or the National Merit program publish new numbers.
