The table stops at SAT 590 because that's where the official concordance stops. Have an ACT score and want the SAT side? Our sister site's ACT to SAT converter works in that direction.
How it works
- Enter your SAT total. If it isn't a multiple of 10, the converter rounds it to the nearest 10 and tells you.
- It looks up that total in Table A1 of the 2018 concordance, which lists one ACT composite for every SAT total from 590 to 1600.
- It also shows the full block of SAT totals that share the same ACT composite, so you can see how wide the band is.
- Finally it adds the SAT user percentile, so you know where the SAT score itself stands.
Worked example. An SAT total of 1400 converts to a 31 on the ACT. SAT totals from 1390 to 1410 all map to 31 in the table, and 1400 sits at the 93rd user percentile (College Board).
Things to know
- Concordance isn't a prediction. ACT says the tables "do not equate scores but help identify comparable scores" (ACT). It tells you which scores sit at a similar percentile rank, not what you'd score on the other test.
- The 2018 tables are still the official ones. ACT says they were "released in 2018" and are "not updated annually" (ACT).
- The ACT changed in 2025: the Composite is now the average of English, math and reading, with science optional. ACT says it expects "the concordance will hold" for the new Composite (ACT).
Questions people ask
What ACT score is a 1400 SAT?
A 1400 SAT matches a 31 on the ACT in the official 2018 concordance tables, and so do 1390 and 1410 (ACT and College Board).
Are the 2018 concordance tables still current after the ACT changes?
Yes, they're still the official version. ACT says the tables are not updated annually, and for the enhanced ACT it says it expects the concordance to hold because the new three-section Composite is designed to be similar to the old one (ACT).
Why do several SAT scores convert to the same ACT score?
The ACT composite runs from 1 to 36, while the SAT total moves in steps of 10 from 400 to 1600. There are far more possible SAT totals than ACT composites, so a block of SAT scores shares each ACT number.
Is a concordance the same as predicting my ACT score?
No. Concordance links scores that rank at a similar percentile. ACT describes the tables as a way to identify comparable scores, not to equate them (ACT). Your actual ACT result depends on how you do on that test.
What if my SAT score is below 590?
The official SAT to ACT table starts at 590, so there's no published ACT match below that. The converter tells you when a score falls under the table instead of guessing.

This SAT to ACT conversion calculator on TutoringForSat.com was built by Cedrick Reese. Every row comes from Table A1 of the 2018 ACT/SAT Concordance Tables published by ACT and College Board, and the percentile column comes from College Board's SAT user percentile table. All 102 SAT rows were compared against the official table on October 7, 2026 with no differences found. The page will be updated if ACT or College Board publishes a new concordance, and ACT's guidance on the enhanced ACT is rechecked each testing year.
